Mr Al-Bayat joined the company in 1971 as an engineer III in Engineering Technical Services after graduating from the University of Basra in Iraq with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He completed rotational assignments in Engineering before becoming a foreman at the Dhahran Power Plant in 1973. In 1976, he was assigned to the OOK Project Management team working on the power generation and transmission projects. Upon his return, he was named assistant superintendent for Southern Area Power Generation in 1979 and superintendent for Power Operations in 1980.
After earning a Master’s degree in electrical engineering from King Fahad University of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and completing an assignment as acting manager of the SCECO Systems Operations Department in 1981, he was loaned to SCECO, and in 1986, he became Vice President of Operations, SCECO East.
In mid-1992, he returned to Saudi Aramco as Manager of Projects for the Communications/SCADA Project Department. He had an acting assignment as general manager of Central Area Projects and then in 1994 became manager of projects for the Central Area Projects Design and Construction Department.
In mid-1994, he acted as manager of the Facilities Planning Department and took on the full job in October.
In 1996 for a short time, he acted as the manager of Consulting Services, before returning to Facilities Planning.
In 1999, he became President and CEO of Saudi Refining Inc. in Houston, Texas.
He returned to the Kingdom in August 2001 to Domestic Joint Ventures. He became Vice President of Project Management on November 1, 2001 and in April 2004 he moved as Vice President to New Business Development. Since September 2007 he holds the position of Vice President Engineering Services.
